“Macau Prospect” photography competition is organized by Macau Laboratory of Civil Engineering, Macao Association of Building Contractors and Developers, The Macau Institution of Engineers, Macau Construction Association, The Architect Association of Macau and Macau Construction Machinery Engineering Association, co-organized by The Photography Salon Society of Macao and sponsored by Instituto para os Assuntos Civicos e Municipais.

Macau’s economy is growing rapidly. In recent years, the overview of Macau city changes widely. In past days, there were not too many high rises. Nowadays, our buildings are in different shape. Many of them look very resplendent with outstanding images. However, it is the contribution of our construction industry. It makes Macau different and more beautiful.

The works reflect the evolvement and development of construction work (the second economic industry) in Macau through the subject of this photography competition “Macau Prospect”. When a building is built up from a level ground, it needs to take much of time. The employees of construction works are working day after night. Due to their efforts, Macau turns into a luxuriance city from a small village.

The photographers depict every beautiful piece of Macau with their excellent skills. Many photos here witness the changes of Macau and write down history.

Started from April, participants took part in the “Macau Prospect” photography competition gradually. The response of the competition was overwhelming. The works captured the changes of different aspects in Macau to reflect the evolvement and development of construction work (the second economic industry). Till to 30th June 2008, the organizers and co-organizers had received over 800 photos of 92 participants from Macau and other places.

Due to a great deal of photos, the representatives from one of the organizers The Architect Association of Macau and co-organizer The Photography Salon Society of Macao made the judgement at “Man Ho Hin” Restaurant on 6th July 2008. After the flaming judgement in the whole the afternoon, 1st prize, 2nd prize and 3rd prize, 20 winners for outstanding awards, 30 winners for entering awards and 3 winners for the best works of members were born.

Through this photography competition, we hope that citizens of Macau are not only affected by the prosperous city and also broaden the understanding of construction works in Macau. At the same time, it will give an encouragement to the related industry.
